Why does "Kernel is offline" show anytime?

While using the model hub,
the below error popup shows
“Kernel is offline”

Then my action doesn’t operate.

What is the problem and how to solve it?

Welcome to the forum!

I’m sorry to hear that you are getting this error.
This problem happens if the Kernel (the backend of the tool) is not running or if something is blocking the communication.

To debug it a bit further, you can run the tool as “perceptilabs -v=3”, which will print all the logs from the tool.
If you wouldn’t mind copy-pasting that log to over here, I can take a look at it and see what’s going on. :slight_smile:

Hi, thank you for sharing the logs!

It seems like the Kernel crashes at startup thanks to this:
PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: ‘/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/perceptilabs/kernel.log’
What happens is that the Kernel tries to create a log where debugging info is saved.
If you can open up that permission it would likely work a lot better (chmod +rwx in that folder should do it) :slight_smile:
We will also add in an option for logging it as a file or not in a later to completely avoid this.

Hi @robertl ,
I am also receving error of “Kernel offline” .
On acquiring the log after running “perceptilabs -v=3” I am getting the error of (ConnectionResetError: [Errno 104] Connection reset by peer)

Hi @Rohitpro!

That “Connection reset by peer” error should be harmless in this case (it just says that a message was interrupted and the connection is being reset, can happen if the browser gets reset or closed).

If you can post the full log then that would be very helpful :slight_smile:

@robertl … here comes the issue again … On selecting any model such as (Linear Regression) in “create model” option in Model Hub window… The model is not getting loaded and although it shows the model is getting loaded… The model file of Regression model in the path shown is in bytes… After around 1 min the kernel is getting offline. This is happening with each model that i try to load (such as GAN, CNN)… Attaching the snapshot of it.
